Bougainville est un explorateur du XVIIIe siècle. À bord de son navire, il devient le premier Français à faire le tour du monde et à découvrir Tahiti. Aujourd’hui encore, on connaît son nom principalement grâce à une fleur qu’il rapporte en France : le bougainvillier. Mais ses découvertes ne se résument pas seulement à une fleur : il ramène savoir, science, découvertes ainsi que certaines controverses sociales…

Bougainville was an explorer from the 18th century. Aboard his ship, he became the first Frenchman to sail around the world and discover Tahiti. To this day, we know his name mostly thanks to a flower he brought back to France: the bougainvillea. But a flower wasn’t the only thing he brought back: knowledge, science, discoveries and social controversies accompanied him along.
