Depuis 1886, cette majestueuse sculpture allégorique se dresse fièrement dans le port de New York. L’histoire prestigieuse de la Statue de la Liberté est indissociable de l’immigration américaine et du concept de liberté. Pourtant, si sa fonction première est d’accueillir les immigrants aux États-Unis, elle en est elle-même une. La Dame de la Liberté est originaire de France, née de l’ambition d’un groupe d’idéalistes.
Since 1886, this majestic allegorical sculpture has stood proudly in New York Harbor. The Statue of Liberty’s illustrious history is inextricably linked to American immigration and the concept of freedom. Yet, if her primary function is to welcome immigrants to the United States, she herself is one. The Lady of Liberty hails from France, the product of a group of ambitious idealists.
