Is French evolving too slowly? -

Un article du Times a récemment pointé du doigt la lenteur de l'évolution de la langue française, dictée par l'Académie. En effet, grande nouvelle, il viennent seulement de publier la neuvième édition de leur dictionnaire depuis 1634. L'édition précédente, la huitième datait déjà de 1935. Alors selon vous, faut-il que l'Académie évolue au pas des utilisateurs de la langue? Ne devrait-elle pas même les précéder? Sinon, à quoi elle sert exactement?

An article in the Times recently pointed out the slow pace of the evolution of the French language, dictated by the Academy. Indeed, big news, they have only just published the ninth edition of their dictionary since 1634. The previous edition, the eighth, was already in 1935. So in your opinion, should the Academy evolve in step with the users of the language? Shouldn't it even precede them? Otherwise, what is its purpose exactly?
